First of all... I would like to thanks all the NUS biathlon people such as wei keong... kenneth... kim long... etc... for making this half iron man possible for me... really learnt and experience a lot... and accomplishing one of the dreams i wanted to do... :)
Half iron man... 2km Swim... 90km Bike... 21km Run... that is what i did on sat in desaru... on fri... we arrived at pulai desaru hotel... we went to register for the race and did a 10km warm up cycle around the area to gain some experience for the bike on sat... it was good as it gives me an impression of the terrain i'm supposed to cycle on sat... sat... the competition starts at 10am...
2km Swim... the wave was definitely stronger than Singapore but not as worst as Aussie... but somehow i manage to clear the swim in a fast timing of 44mins... when i came out of the swim... i can see that many people are behind me as their bikes are still on the rack... so i was feeling... hmm... not bad.... hee...
90km Bike... the biking was kinda my worst part... I don't dare to whack cos i never really cycle 90km on the bike before... so i listen to kenneth advise and pace myself... lots of cyclist gone pass me... but i just don't care... just pace myself as it was inserted in my head... the power gel i ate must be consistent... n i hydrate myself with water whenever i feel is neccessary... in the end... i manage to clear the biking leg roughly 3hrs 20 mins...
21km Run... this run was really torturing as the heat in desaru was scroching hot... I ran for the first 3km... after that... it was walk... run... walk... run... one thing came in my mind was one guy asking me why is he doing this... n guess what i replied to him... "not everyone in the world will do a half iron man... you are GOING to achieve it soon!!!" then we ran together for a while before i started to run slightly faster... hee... in the end i clear the 21km at 2hrs 30 mins...
In the end... my final timing was 6hrs 40mins inclusive of transition.... :) this was a fantastic race!!! a thing i hope next time i would like to do it again... but maybe some other places... hee... actually... yesterday... my body still can endure a bit more and i'm not really feeling that tired or strain in my body today... hmm... thinking of "IRONMAN" now... haha... :P
