Just came back from a 5 days Rinjani trip... tiring as the mountain was abt 3700m high... its been a long time since i do trekking...

Day 1... Took the flight from Singapore to Lombok... a 3 hrs plane flight... got to know stan n carol which were YL frds... n ZW n KC were there too... so 6 of us set off to this mountain... took a 2 hrs car ride before reaching our lodge... so basically... it was a relax day...

Day 2... woke up at abt 0545hrs... took another 1 hr car ride to the starting point of the trek... manage to see Mt Rinjani which is freaking high!!! its going to be a long day... trek thru the vast grasslands n up n up till we reach summit base camp at 1630hrs... we had 6 porters n 1 guide... n guess what... they carried all the tents... sleeping bags... food n etc... I only carry a load of less than 10kg.... meals were fantastic and so was the service of the porters n guide... :) The view of the lake was beautiful with the sun setting along the ridges of the mountain...

Day 3... rise n shine at 0200hrs... hoping to catch the sunrise from the top... but the trek was totally torturous... black gravel... which every 2 steps u take... u definitely will fall back 1... OMG... we couldn't reach the summit on time but the weather was pretty cloudy too... so i guess time was not a factor... it was cold too as i tremble n tremble near the summit... lucky... the sun rise n the heat came... i recovered... after the summit... we trek all the way down to the lake... where they are having some festive occasion... so there were many people... however due to security reasons... we had to pitch our night as far as they were... we soak ourselves in the hot spring n had the best rested night...

Day 4... woke up really late... around 8... slack n stone till after lunch where we do another 2 hrs trek up to another side of the mountain... easy trek n relax too... luv it... we talk crap n had fun... saw another sunset... n decides on how much tips to give the porters n guide... hee...

Day 5... a rushing day... woke up early as we need to trek all the way down n to catch our flight back to Singapore... it rain halfway... n we were totally soak!!! :*(... had a very late lunch before taking the delayed flight back to Singapore...

Overall... it was a fun trip wif nice friendly people around... I guess the only con stuff was the summit part where that is really a nightmare... :)
